Infrastructure Engineer (m/f/x) – Object Storage

Our Hetzner Cloud team consists of around 80 employees and works both remotely across Germany and from our office in Munich (Unterföhring).

Object Storage is the newest addition to Hetzner's portfolio of storage products. Although it is a relatively new product, it is already an impressive storage system, consisting of multiple clusters with dozens of petabytes of capacity.

Because that’s just the beginning and we have big plans for Object Storage, we are looking for Infrastructure Engineers to help us on our journey towards affordable Object Storage for the masses. Since we use Ceph underneath, we are especially looking for Ceph experts and enthusiasts who want to build and operate Ceph clusters that are among the largest in the world.

This position includes an on-call rotation to maintain our services, which can be performed remotely within Germany.

The annual salary for this position is between €68,000 and €84,000 gross. The exact salary level will be determined based on professional experience and the scope of responsibilities.

What you’ll do

  • You will operate large Ceph storage clusters and perform day-to-day operations

  • You’ll set up, configure, and maintain a large number of Linux machines using Ansible

  • You’ll collaborate with the datacenter and network teams to deploy and upgrade hardware

  • You’ll implement and improve monitoring and observability using Prometheus or Thanos

Your profile

  • You have profound expertise in working with Ceph storage clusters and Linux systems

  • You have experience in provisioning and working with on-premise infrastructure

  • You have experience with infrastructure-as-code tools like Ansible and Terraform

  • You are business fluent in English, German is a plus
