Software Developer/Site Reliability Engineer (m/f/d) – Platform
Our Hetzner Cloud team consists of around 75 employees and works both remotely across Germany and from our office in Munich (Unterföhring).
The Platform Team sits at the very heart of our cloud infrastructure. We build and operate the systems that reliably and securely provision thousands of virtual servers in a matter of seconds, every single day. Our focus is on automation, scalability, and performance. We manage and monitor an ever-growing fleet of host systems, consistently relying on Infrastructure as Code, modern CI/CD pipelines, and robust monitoring and deployment solutions. We use modern technologies based on the principle of “the right tool for the job” – pragmatic, sustainable, and without unnecessary hype. As a team, we work in an agile way, share knowledge openly, and contribute our own ideas to continuously improve and evolve our infrastructure.
This position includes an on-call rotation to maintain our services, which can be performed remotely within Germany.

Your tasks
- You develop and maintain software that underpins our cloud platform and integrate new hardware platforms into our fleet management
- You test firmware, BIOS and security updates and roll them out at scale
- You automate routine tasks and drive sustainable improvements to our processes (Infrastructure as Code)
- You investigate and resolve complex issues in 3rd-line support when things become genuinely challenging
- You actively contribute to knowledge sharing and cross-team collaboration, take ownership, and support the wider open-source community
Your profile
- You have excellent Linux skills; experience with hardware-near systems and/or embedded environments is an advantage
- You bring solid programming experience in Go and Ruby, and you enjoy working on low-level topics
- You are confident using Git and configuration management tools such as Ansible, Puppet or Chef
- You work proactively, reliably and with great attention to detail
- You are fluent in spoken and written German and English
